I was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Ulcerative Colitis in 2002. Over the years I have been in and out of remission, but have luckily to this point not experienced any serious issues that I haven’t been able to deal with. I take medication daily and will most likely need to for the rest of my life. Three years ago, I decided that I wanted to get into shape and try to help others that suffer from UC, but have had more significant complications then myself. I joined a group called Team Challenge and trained for a half marathon while raising funds for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. When I finished the race in 90 degree temps, I thought that I would never run again. Well, I was wrong! I caught the bug and have been running ever since. My passion is trail running, but I run roads as well. I plan to use this blog to tell my story of living and running with Ulcerative Colitis. I hope that you enjoy and perhaps learn a little as well.
